Mike Hope

Mike’s dad served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan, where Mike was born and lived the first 2 ½ years of his life. Since coming back to the States, Mike has been a life-long resident of Northeast Georgia.

Upon graduating from Avondale High School in Decatur, Georgia, Mike came to Athens to attend the University of Georgia, where he met Audrey, his wife of 34 years. At UGA, he received a BSED in Social Science Education, graduating Cum Laude. Having enjoyed their time in Athens, Mike and Audrey decided to make their home in the Classic City.

With no teaching jobs to be found, Mike went to work for Armstrong & Dobbs, a local building supply company. Mike’s 6 ½ years at Armstrong & Dobbs taught him much about the residential construction trade and helped fuel his interest in carpentry and woodworking.

In the spring of 1986, Mike went to work for Coleman Cabinets in Watkinsville. Starting first as a cabinet installer, he gradually took on more responsibility when the company was bought by Bill and Jane Claxton in the summer of 1989. Mike’s 25 years of experience in the custom cabinet industry serves him well in his current role as materials purchaser and cabinet designer for Webber Coleman Woodworks.

Mike and Audrey live in Oconee County in the same home they purchased over 30 years ago. They have two grown sons, Kyle and Zach. When not designing kitchens, Mike enjoys reading history, traveling and yard work (but only his own yard!).
